The 3 Northeastern Meet and Great and Eat events have been a great success! Just ask anyone who has attended! Riders from YOW, Chai Riders, Hillel’s Angels and the Montreal Maccabees have enjoyed great Labor Day weekends riding the great roads in Vermont and New Hampshire. Lauren Secular of Chai Riders MC, New York and Steve Stein of Y.O.W. MTC, Toronto have arranged to hold the event once again on the Labor day weekend.

We have blocked off 4 nights and reserved 10 rooms at the 26 room Grey Ghost Inn on Route 100 in the Green Mountain State: Sept. 3^rd to Sept. 7th. The Tribe MC will meet on Sunday, Feb 22nd at Ben Yehuda’s Pizza to have some lunch, and more importantly, to plan out rides for the 2009 riding season.  Please come and join us.  Bring ideas for rides with you as well!

December 7 - Breakfast at Parkway Deli on Grubb Road in Silver Spring.  9:00 a.m.

January 1 - Polar Bear Ride.  PARR is no longer doing their Polar Bear ride, so we’ll do our own!

January 9-11 - DC Motorcycle Show.  Several Tribe members are volunteering at the show.

January 11 - Lunch at Eli’s (Time tbd)  Going to the show on Sunday? Join us for lunch!

February 6-8 - Timonium MC Show.  Some Tribe members will be going.

April 5 - Traveler’s Prayer / Ride.  Departs from Coleman PowerSport, Falls Church.

April 26 - Finalize plans for R2R.  Betsy’s house, Manassas, VA.   (all are welcome, even if you aren’t going on the R2R, think of it as a send off!)

May 14-17 - Ride to Remember.  Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC.  http://www.ride2remember.com/

Sept 27, Ride for Kids.  http://www.rideforkids.org The Tribe MC was the top club last year, and as such, we get to ride together near the front.  Please come (with donations!) in 2009.  Great mitzvah to prepare for Yom Kippur which starts at sundown.   Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time to get home, eat and get to synagogue!

As stated before, our annual meeting is Sunday, November 9th at 11:30 am.  If you are not on our Yahoo Group, but would still like to attend the meeting, please e-mail us at info@thetribemc.com to let us know you are coming, and how many people you will have in total.  Reminder, you do not need to be a member of The Tribe MC to attend.

At this meeting we will be discussing various topics such as:
- Recap of the 2008 season
- 2009 Ride to Remember (Savannah, GA and Charlton, SC)
- Staffing a booth at a Bob’s BMW Open House, November 28th (”Black Friday”)
- Rides and events for 2009, please come with suggestions!

If the weather is nice, we may have a ride before, or after the meeting. (heck, we can have one before AND after the meeting if the weather is extra nice! )

As we get closer to the date of the meeting, we’ll set up a Yahoo Group poll to get an idea of how many will be there. We hope to see a lot of folks there. In fact, we’d like to make sure that non-Tribe members know they are welcome to attend. You won’t be allowed to vote (A change to membership requirements has been proposed) but we’d like to see you. Hopefully you would even be interesting in joining The Tribe during the event. (if so, please bring your checkbook, Henry doesn’t like handling cash) And for those of you who are currently members of The Tribe, it’ll be around renewal time, so you may want to bring YOUR checkbooks to the meeting as well!

Our ride to Lancaster is next Sunday, September 14th. Here’s what we currently have planned:

They open at 7 am. We leave about 8:20 am.

This will be the approximate route to the Plain and Fancy Farm Restaurant: Route

We hope to meet up with the Baltimore Yehudim Riders either outside of Westminster, MD, or York, PA. Details still being worked out.

I have been told the restaurant at our destination at will be The Riverboat on the Potomac. We also have two routes available, a “Twist & Turns” route, and a “Leisurely Ride” route. Routes have been posted on Yahoo. If you aren’t a part of the Yahoo group, but need a route sheet, please let us know. Current weather forecast looks good. Let’s hope it stays that way!

Our ride for August 17th is being put together by Betsy. We’ll be riding to The Dockside Restaurant and Blue Heron Pub. (Let’s focus on the restaurant and not the pub ) The website is http://www.dockside-blueheron.com. This is also the weekend of the “Annual Rod to the Beach Show” which is a custom hot rod show on the beach. Colonial Beach is about 65 miles from DC, and those who live in Maryland may want to return home via the Harry Nice Bridge which will take you through Waldorf and Clinton.

This will not be a ride with a lot of twisties and turns, but will be along some nice country roads.

Tentative meeting information is as follows:

9:30 am, at the rest stop on Westbound I-66; about 3/4 mile past the Route 29 exit.

Depending on the size of the group, we may need to make a reservation at the restaurant. On or about August 3rd (2 weeks before the ride) we’ll post a poll on the Yahoo Group to find out how many people plan to attend. If you are not a part of the Yahoo Group, you can email us (info@thetribemc.com) if you plan to attend.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for September as well. We have several rides coming up, including a meet ‘n greet with several Jewish motorcycle clubs from the Northeast, and of course the Ride for Kids! We need volunteers to think of a ride for October, maybe even November. And while you are thinking, it’s never too early to start planning for rides in 2009!!

We were supposed to have a ride on June 22nd, but Jay, our ride leader, is still bikeless. Since no one else stepped forward to lead a ride, we’ll try to meet up for breakfast. Hi. I mentioned at the beginning of the year that I would volunteer to lead a Tribe ride at least once this season. How about a ride leaving from Damascus, MD traveling back roads to the Antietam Battlefield? The ride would end at Antietam so folks who come from different areas could depart home. Since there is no ride scheduled for July, how about Sunday July 13th starting at 9:00am at the McDonald’s downtown Damascus on Ridge Road. I will put together map and directions as we get closer to the ride.
